Things I love Fridays – Perfume!

I love perfume. I don’t wear perfume as much as I used to because I feel like when I wear it it gets all over Carly and then the smell is too overwhelming. However, I do still love it. I remember that Casey wore Acqua Di Gio on our first date.  I fell in love with him and the Acqua Di Gio that day. Casey tells me that it’s the same situation with him and Clinique Happy Heart. I love how different scents bring back memories of when you wore them.

Here are my favorites:

Things I love Fridays – Puffs Plus with lotion

image  I know this is random but I love these tissues.  Up until 5 months ago I just bought the cheap store brand tissues or worse I would run out of the cheap ones and use toilet paper.  I didn’t think that I needed something nice and plush to wipe my nose.  My thoughts changed when at Christmastime I used one of these at Casey’s parent’s house.  It felt sooo good on my poor rubbed-raw nose.  Now these are the only tissues I buy.  They are so worth the extra money.

Last week we had some people over at our apartment and one of them used a Puff and said, "wow these tissues are luxurious!”  I couldn’t agree more.  They are luxurious and I love them.

Things I love Fridays – Oreo fudge ice cream cake

I love making desserts.  If I have to take a dish to a gathering I will almost always bring a dessert.  My most loved dessert to make and to eat is this:

image I love that it’s so easy to make yet it looks like you’ve spent a lot of time making it!  I also love that guests are always wowed when I pull this out of the freezer. I got the recipe from Kraft Foods (one of my favorite recipe websites).

Oreo Fudge Ice Cream Cake

1/2 cup hot fudge ice cream topping, warmed

1 tub  (8 oz.) Cool Whip, thawed, divided

1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) Chocolate Instant Pudding

8   Oreos, chopped (about 1 cup)

12 vanilla ice cream sandwiches

POUR fudge topping into medium bowl. Whisk in 1 cup Cool Whip. Add dry pudding mix; stir 2 min. Stir in chopped Oreos.

ARRANGE 4 ice cream sandwiches, side-by-side, on 24-inch-long piece of foil; top with half the Cool Whip mixture. Repeat layers. Top with remaining sandwiches. Frost top and sides with remaining Cool Whip. Bring up foil sides; double fold top and ends to loosely seal packet.

FREEZE 4 hours or until firm.

Things I love Fridays - Calpico

2010-04-09 2010-04-09 001 002

This is one of my favorite drinks.  I like it so much because it brings back so many memories of when I visited Japan.  There are vending machines EVERYWHERE in Japan.  You walk down a deserted alley and you’ll find a vending machine.  Whenever you see a vending machine you buy a drink right?  Right! Thus I bought this many times.

It has an interesting flavor because it’s made with milk.  So it’s kind of creamy. I think it tastes like skittles.  Now whenever I go to the Asian market I pick up one of these. Try one!

Random thoughts

- I’ve recently realized that batteries are a large part of my life.  I never thought that the malfunctioning of my cell phone battery, ipod battery, computer battery, and batteries to Carly’s toys could ever make me so frustrated!

- Sometimes I think I’m baby hungry but then I remember not sleeping for 4 months after Carly was born… Maybe I’m baby hungry for a 4 month old baby?

- I really don’t understand {the usage of these fancy parentheses}

- I absolutely love the stage Carly is at right now.  She’s funny, sweet, self-entertaining, loves being held by me, and sleeps amazingly.  Can you tell how important sleep is to me?

- I get really confused reading people’s blogs who refer to their kids/spouses only by the first letter of their name.  Example: Today C woke up early and took a shower and then C woke up after C got out of the shower and then C went and got C out of bed and C brought C to me.  Do you see how things could get confusing (especially if I did this in my blog)?

- I am very grateful for antibiotics and their efficacy.

- I love tortillas.  La Banderita tortillas are the best, and they’re the least fattening.  I even bought some “light” tortillas and was mad when I realized that they had more calories, less fiber, and 1 gram of fat more than La Banderita.

- We’ve gotten our neighbor’s mail a few times, and he’s gotten our mail a few times more.  I’m scared that our neighbor will see something interesting in our mail sometime and not bring it to us.

- I really like doing the laundry (gasp!)  I just don’t like folding it!

- I’m very excited for Summer, and a getaway with Casey sans Carly.

- I woke up this morning and felt like the luckiest girl in the world.  I have the best husband in the world.  I have a perfect little girl.  Life is amazing.

We love Easter

This was probably my favorite Easter ever.  There’s nothing better than seeing your little girl get so excited to see what the Easter bunny left in her basket, then watching conference as a family, and then getting together with good friends to eat loads of food.

She found her basket!

Carly participated in her first Easter egg hunt in our friend’s backyard.  She stopped after 2 eggs and poured the jelly beans on the ground.

Hot weekend

It was awesome weather this past weekend in Milwaukee.  Usually I talk to my parents and they tell me about the heat wave they’re having in Provo and I tell them about the bitter cold we’re having in Wisconsin.  However, this past weekend we switched weather and it got up to 85 degrees here in Milwaukee!  We celebrated the stifling hot weather by going to the zoo on Friday afternoon.

We’ve had a zoo pass for the last 10 months and only gone twice.  Now that Carly is interested in animals I think we’ll be going a lot more!

Things I love Fridays – Easter Edition

I love flowers.  What lady doesn’t right? Casey knows that instead of getting me a bouquet of flowers that will die in a few days I would much rather get a potted plant.  I especially love spring bulbs.  My favorite flowers that I look forward to this time of year, every year, are Easter Lilies.  They smell divine.  Our entire apartment smells so good right now thanks to our beautiful Easter Lilly.  I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!
