Best present ever

Casey gave me a sewing machine for Christmas last year and it has been the best present ever! I use it so much! I asked for a sewing machine because it has been a goal of mine since Carly was born to teach myself how to sew well.  I’d known all the basics for a long time but I had never made anything that I wanted to actually use.

Lately I’ve been learning how to sew new things that I’ve always been too afraid to sew. I realized that I’d always be making blankets and p.j. pants if I didn’t branch out… So I saw a diaper bag tutorial link on my friend Karen’s blog and made this:

I am so proud of myself!  I learned how to make something that is cute and I’ll actually use!  It was a lot of fun to make, and I think I did a pretty good job considering that I’d never sewn with interfacing, or sewn gusseted corners.  Now I’m excited to learn how to sew more things!

So cute, so sick

The only time when Carly will cuddle with me is when she is sick.  She’s been sick with a double ear infection since Monday and even though I feel so bad for her I love it when she’ll fall asleep in my arms and lie down next to me.

Visitors!

My older sister Kari, and her boy Ethan came to visit from Texas last week.  It was so fun to have my sister around to hang out with for a whole week!  We went on some tours, shopped a ton, and hung out.  Carly and Ethan had fun together too.  They’re a year apart so they couldn’t exactly “play” together but they still had screaming wars in the car and laughed at each other a lot.

10 months!

DSC01186

Carly is 10 months old today!  Everyday she is seeming less like a baby and more like a little girl.  Some of her favorite things to do are:

Talking to daddy while he takes a shower in the morning.

Playing anywhere she can get to.  She especially loves to make messes!

Reading books (while wearing large bows).  Note: This is a bow that I made and a couple nights ago we went to Culvers and an old lady asked us if it was her birthday.  Casey and I couldn’t stop laughing after that one especially because Casey kept making fun of it that day.  People here in Wisconsin aren’t used to large- and-in-charge bows like people in Utah are.

Bath time.  She crawls into the bathroom 10+ times a day and pulls herself up onto the bath and stands there and pounds her hands on the ledge waiting for me to start up the water.

We love our sweet Carly.  She already has such a cute personality.  She cracks us up with her dancing, growling, talking, and knee-sucking.  We can’t wait to see all her new tricks this next month!
