Things I Love Fridays–Everest, Beyond the Limit

Casey and I started watching this on Netflix a few months after Holland was born, and we got hooked quick!  It’s a Discovery Channel documentary about expedition teams climbing Everest.  On Netflix there are 3 seasons and each episode leads up to the groups summiting.  It’s really intense and everything is real.  I never knew all that people go through to climb this mountain emotionally, financially, and physically! This series is so interesting and I find myself still thinking about it almost 2 years after we watched it!  If you’re just going to watch one season watch the 2nd.

Things I Love Fridays - Jif

I know this is kind of silly, but I am a peanut butter snob, and I could pick out brands during a blindfold taste test. My love for Jif peanut butter started when my mom started working part time for Proctor and Gamble when I was in High school.  P&G owned Jif back then and my mom started buying it all the time and I fell in love.  Jif has a has really rich peanut flavor and doesn’t taste waxy to me like other brands do.

Try it if you haven’t!

Brendan and Lissy

Casey’s brother Brendan and Brendan’s daughter Lissy came to visit us this past weekend.  On Saturday we left Carly and Holland with some friends all day while we went to Cedar Point.  I felt bad at first that we were leaving the kids because I thought they’d have lots of fun at a theme park, but I am SO GLAD we didn’t bring them because Cedar Point is definitely and an older kid/adult theme park.  There are tons of huge roller coasters that you pretty much have to wait at least an hour in line to get on any of them.

A new roller coaster opened last week and the line to it was 2 hours long… so we didn’t go on it, but my favorite ride out of the 5 that we had time for in 8 hours was this one:

Do you see how high that is!  It was so fun.  It held the record for the fastest roller coaster in the world until a few years ago. So,  remember how we passed up on the new roller coaster because the line was 2 hours long… we’ll this roller coaster (in pic) said the wait was 1 hour so we decided to wait in it… 2.5 hours later, yes TWO AND A HALF HOURS later we got to the front of the line and we were set to get on the 3rd next car, and the roller coaster BROKE down.  We figured we’d wait a bit longer to see if it would get fixed fast because we just waited what seemed a lifetime in line to get to the front, but a worker said it would take a long time to fix so everyone had to get out of line and they wouldn’t keep our places in line or anything like that. We were defeated and angry but we still wanted to go on it because we came so close.  So after riding a few other coasters we went back to this one and it was open again and they wouldn’t let us go back to the front so we waited another 1.5 hours in line and FINALLY got to ride it.  It was awesome though and I loved the ride but it was definitely not worth 4 hours of my life to wait for.

That pretty much summed up our experience at Cedar Point… forever long lines for short rides.  There is an option to buy a Fast Pass, but the Fast Pass was $60 on top of the admission price so pretty much $100 total, maybe it was worth it to buy it but we couldn’t justify paying that much $, but I guess we justified wasting our day in lines…

Carly and Holland had so much fun playing with Uncle Brendan and Lissy.  Lissy gave Carly all her attention and Carly was in heaven.  On Monday we went to an Indians game.  We had awesome seats, and we had a great time, despite the 90 degree weather!  We also got Brendan to take pics of us by this sign.  We’ve been wanting to do it ever since we moved to Strongsville!

Thanks for coming and visiting us Brendan and Lissy!  We love having visitors!  We only have 7 more weeks in Ohio before we move to Arkansas so if anyone wants to experience Ohio come before then, otherwise come visit us later and get the dirty south experience in Arkansas :)

Things I Love Fridays–Clinique All About Eyes

All About Eyes

I have really sensitive skin, especially really sensitive face skin. I have tried out different brands other than my norm brands and almost always my face will poof up.  For some reason my face especially hates Maybelline stuff.  I had a coupon for some Maybelline mascara a few years ago and I bought some and my eyelids poofed up so much that they were pretty much swollen shut and even a few days after the incident my eyelids were still poofy and parts of my eyelid were peeling, so I will never again stray.

I LOVE Clinique.  Their products are hypoallergenic so I know that anything I buy from them will be nice to my face.  One of my all time favorite Clinique products is All About Eyes. It’s an under eye cream that reduces dark circles and puffiness, and it does a dang good job at it! I feel like I have especially large dark circles under my eyes and this stuff works wonders on them, and makes them disappear.  It also makes the skin under my eyes feel so smooth and soft. I also love how it makes a good primer for my under eye makeup to go on smooth.  If you’re in the market for an awesome under eye cream try this stuff.  If you have a favorite under eye cream comment and let me know!

P.S. Tonight Casey’s brother and our niece are coming in town to play with us all weekend.  Tomorrow we are going to Cedar Point (sans children!!!!). I am so grateful for our sweet friends who are going to watch out children all day while we ride on the adult rides!

Get ready

It's late and Casey is out of town which means that I've watched all my shows on the DVR and I still don't want to get ready for bed because then I'll have to go turn off all the lights and lock the doors (that's his job) and run up the stairs in the dark.  So I'd rather stay up and read random stuff on Flipboard until I'm too tired to care that his side of the bed is cold.
Anyway, I know that a few people are subscribed to my blog, which hasn't been updated in quite some time, and I've been thinking for a while that I need to start blogging again for posterity's sake and because I don't write in my journal anymore (Casey does that for me every Sunday).  However, I know how exciting it is to read stuff about people's kids' monthly development so I wanted to do something different than that in addition to all the posts about my kids so I decided to start Things I Love Fridays again. I have a whole load of products that I love (I ran out of stuff last time:)) so I can start again.  So you two people that read my blog can get ready for this Friday!
