Some pics

I was uploading pictures from my phone and found some gems!

My parents laughed when they walked downstairs on conference Sunday morning and saw all of us with our computers.  Notice how Carly’s is size appropriate? (it’s a DVD player)

Playing at McDonalds have been our bribe for Carly lately.   She is obsessed with Ronald McDonald for some reason.  I swear we never even told her his name, she just knew it.

Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend.  We hit up the Provo City Egg Hunt, spent a lot of time with our friends the Farrenkopfs from Wisconsin, and ate lots of food and candy!  This Easter was a lot of fun because Carly has been so excited for the Easter bunny to come and she understood what was going on.   We’ve had lessons about the true meaning of Easter and she even understood that we celebrate Jesus on Easter.  I can’t believe how old my little girl is getting.  She is getting so smart and sweet.  She makes sure she kisses “baby sister” (my belly) multiple times a day.  She also makes sure to let me know that I’m her best friend.  She says, “mommy is my best friend!”  I really can’t believe how lucky I am that I get to hang out with my best friend everyday!  She is such a sweetheart.

At the Provo City Easter Egg Hunt:  It was madness there, and not worth the 4 tootsie rolls we got!

Lately Carly has been obsessed with piggy banks and money.  So she got a piggy bank for Easter!

I got a huge Egg for Casey at Hobby Lobby.  It was so fun to see his face when he saw it!

Every year my mom hosts an egg hunt for the grandkids.  This is the first year we’ve been here to participate.  Carly LOVED it!  Doesn’t she look cute standing with her little girl cousins???

I thought this picture was funny.  All the guys are just talking about the yard.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

What I’ve Been Doing…

I go through different crafting cycles.  Sometimes I really feel like sewing, and that will last for a month or so, and other times I feel like crafting/painting/refinishing.  Lately I’ve really felt like sewing.  I didn’t sew at all before I had Carly – I didn’t even own a sewing machine.  I didn’t have any confidence in my sewing abilities so I never sewed.  But now if I see something that someone has (usually baby/kid stuff) that I think is cute I will probably try to make it on my own.  It gives me something to do plus it saves money (sometimes).

Here are my latest projects.

I made a bedskirt for Carly’s even bigger girl bed.  We are getting her a twin-sized bed this week.

Another project for Carly’s new bed: I found this headboard at Savers last week for $10!  They sell these at Walmart and Target for like $125! It was white originally, but had a lot of paint scratched off and scuff marks so I liquid sandpapered it and spray painted it ballet slipper pink.

For “baby sister” (Carly’s name for the baby in my belly): I made this car seat canopy. I didn’t have one of these for Carly because I swear they didn’t exist 2 years ago, and I wouldn’t have thought to make something like this anyway.  I am so excited to have one of these for our next baby!

I learned how to machine-smock with elastic thread a few months ago.  Since then I’ve been crazy making skirts people.  I’ve made four smocked skirts for myself in the past few months.  I figure they’re nice to wear in the bigger pregnancy stages. Here are my latest skirts that I’ve made for myself:

Now I need to find some new projects!
