Christmas 2012

We celebrated Christmas a week early in Ohio so we wouldn’t have to take all our presents with us to Utah.  It was extremely confusing for Carly to understand that it wasn’t actually Christmas when we were opening the presents.  We ended up telling Santa to drop off her presents in Utah so she got to open her presents from Casey and me and Holland at home.

Casey and I got each other iPhones for Christmas, and we got an Xbox with Kinect for a family present.

We got Holland this animated rocking horse and she was freaked out by it for a few days, but once she saw how much fun Carly was having on it she gave it a try :)

Carly got “less” fun presents from us for Christmas (like books etc.) and we saved the more exciting ones to be from Santa (we bought them once we got to Utah).  We had to do this because she kept trying to find her Christmas presents and found most of them, little stinker!

We spent our Utah Christmas vacation first at the Greens house.  It was so exciting to see Casey’s brother Tyson’s new baby Porter that they just adopted a few weeks before.  They found out the day of the baby’s birth that they got a baby, crazy huh!  After a few days shopping and eating tons of Mexican food we headed down to Provo for a few days.  We spent Christmas Eve there and then Christmas day we traveled back up to Centerville for a few days.

Best cousin friends reunited!

It snowed almost everyday while we were in Utah and Holland and Carly loved it!

We flew home on New Year Eve, and our flight got in at 11:55 p.m. We spent our New Years on the tarmac.

We had such a fun time visiting family and friends in Utah.  I love the feeling of being back at home and staying up late laughing with family!  I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Holland

Holland is 17 months as of yesterday which means only 1 more month until nursery!  Casey is the one that gets her for Sunday School and Priesthood because I have to teach music in Primary so he is a lot more anxious to get her in there!

Holland can FINALLY walk! It has been so long in the making. She has been cruising for about 2 months but just started walking all the time at the first of December. She seems so much happier now that she get places faster than bum scooting. The bum of her pants thanks her!

Holland loves: Baby Einstein, being tickled, snuggling, babies (real and fake), pushing her babies in her strollers, her blankie that Grandma Kathie made for her, brushing her teeth, animals, playing in the toilet.

Holland has been a completely different child than Carly has been which has made us seriously think about waiting  3-4 years until we have another child.  To make a long story short she just cries (screams) a lot and wants to be held all the time, and she still has problems sleeping at night (which is the hardest for us to deal with, and I’m sure contributes to the whininess during the day).  However, because she is such a momma’s girl all the time I do get lots of cuddles and kisses from her, and I never get lonely!

Carly’s Birthday Interview

This year Carly had a rainbow birthday party, if you can’t tell :) She had all the girls from her Primary class over plus her good friend Max which is Casey’s coworker’s son.  She had the time of her life getting so much attention from so many people! Then a few days later on her actual birthday we went to Chuck E Cheese and had a family party.  I’ve decided that once my kids can talk I want to tape them talking about their birthday every year for posterity sake.

Hatches Do Cleveland

My parents came to visit a few weeks ago and we had so much fun!  We went to Kirtland one day, toured Cleveland another, and shopped the rest of the time. I loved being able to show my parents around our new city, and Carly and Holland loved playing with Grandma and Grandpa non stop!

You are such a sweet, happy, chill, momma-loving baby. You are so chill that you haven’t wanted to crawl, stand-up or walk at all yet.  You bum scoot everywhere which is so cute and everyone has a good laugh at church when they see you scoot around.

You love to eat everything, which is so nice since Carly has never eaten anything!  Your favorite food is chicken nuggets, but you will eat anything! Whenever you see a can of soda you whine until someone will take pity on you and give you a sip. You also love to try to eat other people’s food at dinner time.

You gave up nursing about a month ago which made the weaning process so easy.  One day you didn’t want to nurse so I tried giving you a bottle and you downed it!  You wouldn’t ever take a bottle before then so I was shocked.  I still nursed you at night time for a few days and then you stopped then too.  I am glad that I have some freedom but I miss all that cuddle time I used to get.

You love your momma and not many other people.  You’ll let daddy hold you but rarely anyone else.

You adore Carly and  love when she’ll  play with you.  Carly is very sweet to you sometimes but most of the time she gets mad if you touch anything of hers.  I really hope you two will become friends sometime soon!

You have one of the loudest cries I have heard!  You usually bring out the loudest cries at night time, and you still don’t like sleeping very much.  You still wake up twice during the 12 hours you are in bed, and you’ll cry for a LONG time… Maybe you can show some pity on your poor family and just go back to sleep without crying, soon please :) When we get you out of bed in the morning you hurry to grab everything in your crib (blanket, glow worm, pacifier) so you can bring them with you, its so cute!

You love bath time and whenever you hear the word “bath” you try to pull off your shirt, we have to be careful when we say it now.

We can already tell that you are going to be a social girl because you love waving and blowing kisses at everyone.  You love going shopping with momma because you can sit in the cart and wave at everyone and get lots of attention from people!

You are such a blessing to our family and we love you so much!  Happy first birthday!

Hello Cleveland

Now that we are finally settled I feel like I can blog again.  We have loved Cleveland so far.  We love our house, our neighborhood, and our ward.  The week after we moved in our good friend Ann came to visit from Wisconsin.  Carly was so excited to have Ann come play with her for and entire week!  We went to a farm, the zoo, and then hung out at home for 5 days because Carly and Holland (and me) got strep throat.  Ann was SO kind to clean up throw up, and help me deal with ornery, sick kids.  My camera was lost in an unpacked box while she was visiting so I didn’t get any pictures :(

The week after Ann came our BFFs from Wisconsin, the Callisters, came to visit on their way back from visiting family in PA.  We had a blast with them.  We went to see the Kirtland sites, to one of Michael Symon’s restaurants, B-Spot, just a couple minutes away from our house. We also went to the Christmas Story House, and an Indians game.  We stayed up late and played games like the old days, and The Callisters even brought us a 24 pack of  our favorite soda ever…Sprecher Root Beer!  Sadly it only lasted like 3 days!

Saying Goodbye

A few weeks before we moved we tried to cram all our parties in so we could spend as much time as possible with everyone before we moved.  We got together with Casey’s best friends and their families. I love getting together with this group because all these guys’ wives are my besties now too!  Casey has been friends with these guys since High School!

We got together with my family on my birthday a few weeks before we moved.  I was trying to take in all my favorite things that I already miss so much about Utah.
