Last night while Casey and I were getting ready for bed we kept hearing sirens. Hearing sirens is pretty common in our neck of the woods so we didn't really think anything of it. After about 15 minutes of hearing sirens getting closer and closer I decided to finally look out the window. I saw fire engine lights and an orange glare. I ran outside and was so relieved to see that it was in fact NOT our apartment that was on fire but it was extremely close to ours (a parking lot and a fence away).
It was so crazy to watch. I became so grateful for firemen who will risk their lives fighting fires! I read an article in the paper this morning and apparently there were 100 firemen there fighting the fire. What really got to me were the flood of memories of my parent's house catching on fire when I was 8. I automatically knew what those people were going through who were watching their home burn down. Thankfully no one was hurt. Police think that fireworks started the fire... which would be my guess because we hear them almost every night! Casey and I had a rough time getting to sleep after all that!

That's so sad. I remember you telling me about your house when you were younger and your family was at church or something when it happen. I'm glad it wasn't your apartment. I'm always worried about our apartment catching on fire and how I would get Livie out. Hopefully it will never happen for either of us. Glad you're ok.
Crazy!! I'm glad ya'll are okay and that it was a fence and a building away.
oh Wow!! Is that Mariners point? I seriously have a huge fear of being in a house fire. After I saw these pics it made me think about my fear again and then on 20/20 they were talking about a house fire too. I can't believe that happened to you when you were younger!
Oh my gosh! That is so scary!! What a crazy thing to watch!
