We've been here in Cleveland a little over 3 weeks. We were really lucky to land the house that we're currently in. We had two options that were in the areas we wanted to live and were big enough and liveable. There wasn't much at all to choose from rental wise. One of the houses ended up not being an option because the owner decided to sell it and we didn't want to buy it! So thankfully we had another house that came to us through our friends who used to live in it which is less than a mile from our old house! I love the area our "new" house is in. It's a really nice neighborhood with big houses and a few small houses (our house). The thing I'm most excited about is that our neighborhood has a nice, big HOA pool, and park just a few block away. We're already planning on going swimming everyday this summer which makes me so happy :)
While the neighborhood and the amenities are awesome the interior of the house has taken some getting used to. I know I have nothing to complain about but it was hard moving into an 80s house! (that hasn't been updated). There are no overhead lights in any of the rooms except the bathrooms and the kitchen. So we had to buy a ton of floor lamps right when we moved in. The upstairs of our house is decent but the downstairs looked like an Easter egg. All the walls in our kitchen and family room were pink and the carpet was pink too. It drove me nuts so I decided to paint it, and thankfully the owner of the house was fine with it! Here's the before and after pics.
Before: (who paints the actual light switches???)
The kitchen was really dark. I thought of a bunch of different things I could do to brighten it up. There was a random outlet on the ceiling and I tried hanging swag lights, but it looked dumb so my dad helped me (over Facetime) to wire this ceiling light. It adds so much light and makes the kitchen look so much better and not feel like a dungeon.

Next project is taking down the wallpaper in all the bathrooms. I know we're just renting but it bugs me seeing things that could be changed easily (and cheap) that would make the house look a lot better and updated that aren't changed!
