Things I love Fridays – The Men of The Food Network

What is there about…

A man that can cook?

A man that takes pride in knowing how to work a KitchenAid?

A man that reeks of food?

The following men do all of the above while looking dang good doing it.  I love them.

My fav Alton Brown.  He has skills and personality.

Bobby Flay.  Surprised? Don’t be.  He definitely knows how to use that grill spatula. (by the way Karen does a great Bobby Flay impersonation)

Tyler Florence.   Enough said.

15 months!

Carly turned 15 months last week.  She is so much fun!  We love her funny personality.  Here’s what she’s been up to lately:

A few weeks ago a friend gave us this adorable doll house.  Carly loves it so much.  It’s so cute to see her playing with it.

Lately Carly has started to climb everywhere!  She’s been trying to pull herself onto chairs, and I really hope she doesn’t get up on them anytime soon!

She loves cups and water bottles.  I try to hide my water bottle but she always seems to find it and then she points at it and whines until she gets it.  Her favorite water receptacle though is a soda cup.  We don’t let her drink more than a sip of soda – she just likes playing with them and carrying them around.  If you try to take a soda cup away from her you will get the wrath of Carly!

Other newfound loves:

-Mr. Noodle on Sesame Street.  She giggles and giggles when he comes on.  I love it!

-Her TWO teeth.  She has one on the top and one on the bottom.  Two more are ready to pop through.  She loves playing with them with her tongue.

-The toilet!  If I ever leave the bathroom door open she runs into the bathroom, holds up the toilet seat with one hand and dips the other hand in the water.  I’ve been looking into buying a toilet lock…

We love you Carliflower!

Things I love Fridays – Sunglasses

Casey is proud of the fact that he has turned me into a sunglass snob.

Casey worked at a sunglass store from the time he got back from his mission until we moved to Wisconsin.  I loved those days when he worked there because he brought me home lots of fun new pairs of sunglasses. On Valentine’s day when we were dating he surprised me with my very first pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses.  I loved them then and I still love them now.

Later after we got married he decided that I needed some Oakleys.  So he got me these:

Right before he quit to start at Kohl’s he got me the creme de la creme of sunglasses, these Maui Jims:

These are by far my favorite sunglasses.  I don’t know any technical sunglass lingo but I do know that they are polycarbonate polarized lenses.

Maui Jims are amazing sunglasses.  My eyes are soothed by them (I’m totally serious).  Everything looks better while I’m wearing these.  I LOVE the frames most of all  They are so comfortable and stay on my face and don’t move around.  I can even jog in them.  I wish I had these during my lifeguarding days.  These take away all glares.  You can look straight through water, and see the bottom of the pool.  They are just as nice during the Winter too.

Thanks Casey for spoiling me rotten.

Aspiring Cobbler

I found a baby shoe tutorial through one of my friend’s blogs, and I have been having so much fun making shoes for Carly.  They are pretty easy to make.  I just had to tweak the pattern to make the shoes bigger for Carly. I made her a couple pairs in just a few hours.  I think they’re adorable.  I just interfaced the fabric, and used suede for the soles so they’d be durable for Carly walking in them.

Things I love Fridays – Urban Decay Shadow Primer

Have you ever heard of eyeshadow primer?  I hadn’t until about 2 months ago and now I’m hooked. I love this stuff.  It makes eyeshadow tons more vibrant so you don’t have to use as much.  It also makes it so your shadow doesn’t crease or rub off during the day.  I’m in no way a makeup pro but for the past 6 months I’ve been trying out different products to try to mix up my makeup routine.

If you don’t want to invest in this stuff I found an awesome video on how to make your own primer.  I tried making some and it worked pretty well.  The girl shows the difference in how eyeshadow looks using homemade primer and Urban Decay primer which is helpful.

Pray for Bronson

Just a week ago a little Provo boy just 1 month older than Carly nearly drowned. He is in Primary Children's Hospital right now fighting for his life. I love his mother's courage and faith. Read the story here:

Things I love Fridays – Magic Eraser

image

I’m not sure what’s in these things but they really do work like magic!  We’ve had a paint mark on the side of our TV for almost two years and after one swipe with a magic eraser it’s gone, totally gone.  Do you know how many times I’ve shamefully stared at that mark on the TV??? Practically everyday for two years.

These work on just about anything: walls, appliances, tile, shoes, baseboards etc.  They will clean it right up.
