Must read

I came across this blog and it's way too funny to not share: http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com

It shows professional cakes gone wrong. It's hilarious.

And, I leave to Utah tomorrow morning (it's more like tonight because I have to leave so early). I'm soooo excited!

8 months old!

I can't believe my little girl is 8 months old today. Where has time gone? Carly is so much fun to hang out with. I'm so lucky to be able to hang out with my best girlfriend everyday. Carly is at such a fun stage right now. Here's what she's been up to this last month:
-Loves to eat on her own now. She can hold bottles and eat finger foods. I was a little sad at first when she decided that she didn't need any help eating but I got over that fast.

-Is crawling a little bit, but after a couple "knees" she rolls to her side. She's an extremely fast roller so she probably figures crawling won't do her any more good than rolling.

-Is a great sleeper. We are very very lucky.

-Is a great growler and talker.

Too close for comfort

Last night while Casey and I were getting ready for bed we kept hearing sirens. Hearing sirens is pretty common in our neck of the woods so we didn't really think anything of it. After about 15 minutes of hearing sirens getting closer and closer I decided to finally look out the window. I saw fire engine lights and an orange glare. I ran outside and was so relieved to see that it was in fact NOT our apartment that was on fire but it was extremely close to ours (a parking lot and a fence away).
It was so crazy to watch. I became so grateful for firemen who will risk their lives fighting fires! I read an article in the paper this morning and apparently there were 100 firemen there fighting the fire. What really got to me were the flood of memories of my parent's house catching on fire when I was 8. I automatically knew what those people were going through who were watching their home burn down. Thankfully no one was hurt. Police think that fireworks started the fire... which would be my guess because we hear them almost every night! Casey and I had a rough time getting to sleep after all that!

Caught red handed

Carly loves to play with my diaper bag. Sometimes I forget to put it somewhere where she can't get to it. Yesterday I walked out of the room for a few minutes and when I came back she had
ravaged my diaper bag. Lately I've been thinking that this new stage will probably bring a lot of new challenges...

Happy birthday America!

We had a very busy yet relaxing Fourth of July weekend. Casey got Friday off of work so we had a fun-filled day of shopping and hanging out with each other. On the fourth we headed to the Taylor's house for a party. It was so nice to hang out in their backyard and chat with friends on such a beautiful day! Later that night we headed to the pool until Carly fell asleep. She was such a trooper the entire weekend.

Carly's hair has been getting way long. I've tried many ways to get it out of her eyes and the only thing that works is the mohawk.
